Falling Into Place

Hey everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend.

Things have been exciting for me in regards to Sapphyre. Everything is falling into place and I’ve reached a point where I feel like I can finally finish the first couple of chapters.

One of the things that I feel had been holding me back was the fact that I had the mindset that I wanted to go back and forth between my two POV characters (ex. Ch 1 (L), Ch 2 (M), Ch 3 (L), Ch 4 (M), etc). Everything that I had for L’s first chapter was way too much to fit into one.

I finally broke out of the mindset and decided that this ball scene will be divided into two chapters.

Problem solved.

Now I don’t need to rush through things with suitors to be able to spend time on her conversation with the character who becomes her mentor.

Sometimes we get stuck in a funk because our mindset is so stuck on something because “it’s always been this way.” I had that trouble with Topaas as well.

Changing your mindset to change something about your story or novel can have a huge impact and allow you to write something better than you planned initially.

Make a switch when something’s not working.

It’ll make things a lot easier to deal with.

What mindset changes have you made to improve your writing?
